The claim is made here that scholars are the anchor of Islam. But the reality is that scholars have allowed other-than-Allah to become the dominant center of what they teach.
Example: in His Qur'an, Allah tells us that the punishment for zina is 100 lashes. He makes no distinction as the the marital status of the perpetrator(s). But most of the ulema from the major sects elevate man-made sources above Allah's word, and they tell us the punishment for the married one who commits zina is death by stoning.
This is not an anchor. This is a hole in the boat.

The scholars differ on certain issues, they all have sound arguments from Quran and Hadith/Sunnah.This is the reason off Fiqh and different Madhibs/Schools.
